Chapter 01

How to Trade Memecoins

From zero wallet to first buy — here's the exact playbook for trading Solana memecoins without embarrassing yourself.

Set Up Your Phantom Wallet
Download Phantom from phantom.app (browser extension or mobile). Create a new wallet. Save your seed phrase OFFLINE — never digital, never in DMs. Fund it by buying SOL on Coinbase or Binance and withdrawing to your Phantom address.

Understand Market Cap & Liquidity
Market cap = price × total supply. A coin with $50K MC is tiny and risky — but also where 100x happens. Check liquidity too: if liquidity is under $10K, you can't exit a big bag without crashing the price. Target coins with at least $20K–$50K liquidity.

Find Coins to Buy
Use GMGN to filter for brand new launches. Filter DEXScreener by "Solana" → sort by newest or trending. Follow CT (Crypto Twitter) — alphas spread fast. Look for coins with narrative, community activity, and momentum in the first 30 mins of launch.

Do Your Own Research (DYOR)
Before buying: Check the X post/account linked to the coin. Check top holders — if one wallet holds 20%+, red flag. Check if the dev wallet has sold. Use Rugcheck.xyz or RugDoc for extra analysis. Look for verified socials or active X/Telegram community.

Make Your First Buy
Go to Jupiter.ag, search the token by contract address (CA). Set slippage to 15–25% for volatile coins. Start small — 0.1 to 0.5 SOL. Use a Telegram trading bot (see Chapter 03) for faster execution on new launches. NEVER put all your funds in one coin.

Set Your Exit Strategy
Decide your targets BEFORE entering. "I'll take 50% profits at 3x and let the rest ride." Stick to it. Don't get greedy. Use auto-sell features in bots to lock in gains. In the memecoin space, paper hands beat diamond hands more often than you think.

What is "Trenching"? CORE
Trenching means grinding in the early moments of a coin's launch — the dangerous, volatile first minutes where the biggest gains AND biggest losses happen. Trenchers are in the trenches, buying before the crowd, riding the initial pump, and exiting before the dump. It's fast, risky, and highly rewarding when done right.
Monitor New Launches 24/7 TACTIC
Use Pump.fun's live feed or GMGN to get new launches. The window to get early is literally seconds to minutes on a trending launch. Set up your bot (Trojan, Axiom) with auto-buy triggers on new mints. Have your Telegram open, notifications on. Trenching is a lifestyle, not a hobby.
Copy Trading INSIDERs Wallets ALPHA
These are wallets that consistently catch early gems, either part of a launch team or Devs side wallets. Use tools like Cielo Finance or GMGN to track top-performing wallets. When they buy, you buy — instantly via bot copy-trade. This strategy gets you in early without needing to do your own research every time. But don't blindly follow — always check what they're buying.
Snipe at Launch ADVANCED
Sniping means buying a token the moment liquidity is added — sometimes in the same block. This requires a Telegram trading bot with snipe mode. You'll set the contract address, your SOL amount, slippage, and tip (Jito tip to get your transaction prioritized). Be careful — sniping can get you rugged instantly if the dev removes liquidity after launch. So do well to disable auto sell option, and do your sells manually.
Manage Position Sizing DISCIPLINE
In the trenches, most coins go to zero. Bet accordingly. A good trench sizing strategy: Use 1–5% of your total SOL per trade. If your bag is 10 SOL, that's 0.1–0.5 SOL per play. This way, a rug doesn't wipe you. One 50x on a small position pays for 100 rugs. Survive long enough to hit the big one.
Time Your Exit CRITICAL
Most memecoins have a lifecycle: Stealth launch → early pump → CT attention → ATH → dump. Your job is to exit before the dump. Set auto-sell at 2x, 3x, 5x. Take partial profits early. Never wait for "one more pump." The chart will tell you — high volume spike + price rejection = exit signal. When in doubt, sell half.

How to Set Up Any Bot

Click the ref link above to open the bot in Telegram. Hit /start to initialize your account.

The bot will generate a wallet address for you. Send SOL to this address to fund your bot wallet.

Set your buy amount, slippage preference, and Jito tip in the settings. Most bots have a /settings command.

Trading Glossary

If you've been in CT long enough, you've seen these words. Now you'll actually know what they mean.

DEGEN
Short for "degenerate." A trader who takes high-risk, high-reward plays in the memecoin space with little regard for conventional financial wisdom.
"I'm full degen this cycle — 100% in memecoins."
RUGGED
When the developer removes liquidity and runs with the money, sending the token to zero instantly. The most common exit scam in memecoin land.
"Got rugged on $MOON — dev pulled LP 10 mins after launch."
APE IN
To buy a token quickly and aggressively, usually without doing much research. Based on gut instinct, hype, or a tip.
"Just aped into $CORGI with 2 SOL. No idea what it is but it's pumping."
NGMI
"Not Gonna Make It." Used to describe someone making a bad trading decision or someone who lacks the conviction to hold a winning position.
"Sold at 2x and it went 50x. NGMI honestly."
WAGMI
"We're All Gonna Make It." Community rallying cry of optimism — usually said when a coin is pumping or when the market is feeling bullish.
"$PEPE up 400% today. WAGMI."
GG
"Good Game." Said after a loss — particularly after getting rugged or missing a big pump. A stoic acknowledgment that you got played.
"Dev dumped. Chart dead. GG. On to the next."
ALPHA
Early, exclusive information or insight that gives a trader an edge over the market. Finding alpha is the whole game in memecoins.
"Got alpha from a KOL wallet — they're buying $CAT. Aping now."
SHILL
Aggressively promoting a token — often by someone who is already holding it and wants others to buy to pump the price. Can be genuine or paid/deceptive.
"Every influencer is shilling $PEPE today. Might be coordinated."
CT
Crypto Twitter (now Crypto X). The primary social layer of memecoin culture where narratives are formed, alpha is shared, and hype is manufactured.
"CT is going crazy about the frog meta. Time to look at frog coins."
KOL
Key Opinion Leader. An influencer or trader whose moves others follow. KOL wallets are tracked obsessively for early entry signals.
"KOL just bought 50 SOL worth of $BIRD. Copy trade triggered."
FUD
Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt. Negative information — real or manufactured — meant to shake weak hands out of a position so bigger players can buy cheaper.
"Don't sell based on that tweet — classic FUD. Hands stay diamond."
PAPER HANDS
Selling too early out of fear or impatience, usually before the full pump plays out. Opposite of diamond hands.
"Paper handed at 3x and it went to 30x. I can't do this anymore."
DIAMOND HANDS
Holding a position no matter what — through dips, FUD, and panic. Admirable in theory, dangerous in memecoin practice without a sell plan.
"Diamond handing $FROG from 10K MC to 10M MC. Worth it."
LP / LIQUIDITY
Liquidity Pool — the funds locked in a trading pair that allow buying and selling. Burned LP = safer (dev can't pull). Low LP = harder to exit big bags.
"LP is burned and locked for 6 months. This one looks safer."
CA
Contract Address. The unique on-chain address of a token. You paste this into Jupiter, your bot, or DEXScreener to find and trade a specific coin.
"Drop the CA in the group and I'll check it out."
ATH
All-Time High. The highest price a token has ever reached. Most memecoins make their ATH in the first few hours, then bleed. Knowing when ATH hits is key to exiting.
"Coin hit ATH at 2M MC then dumped 80%. Classic pump and dump."
BONK
Both a famous Solana memecoin AND slang for when a coin's price gets hit hard. Also used to describe entering early on a Pump.fun coin before it "bonds" to Raydium.
"Got in at 10K MC when it was still bonding. Easy 20x."
META
The current trend or narrative driving memecoin pumps. Could be an animal meta, AI meta, political meta, etc. Trading the meta = finding coins that fit the hot narrative.
"AI meta is running again. Everything with 'ai' in the name is pumping."
